Friday July 11 2025: Israeli man murdered in attack at Gush Etzion supermarket Thursday.
An Israeli security guard was murdered when two terrorists armed with guns and knives attacked the Rami Levi shopping complex at the Gush Etzion junction.
A twenty-two-year-old security guard was critically wounded Thursday afternoon July 10 2025 in a combined shooting and stabbing attack at the Rami Levi shopping complex at the Gush Etzion junction. He was later pronounced dead. The victim was later identified as Shalev Zevuloni, aged 22, from Kiryat Arba.
The two Arab Muslim terrorists who perpetrated the attack were eliminated at the scene by security forces and armed civilians.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the two Arab terrorists arrived at the compound armed with knives and attacked an Israeli security guard. They stabbed him in the upper body. Magen David Adom (MDA) teams attempted to save his life but had to declare him dead.
According to eyewitnesses at the scene of the attack, the terrorists entered the parking lot and began to open fire at the shopping center. In response, armed citizens returned fire and neutralized them.
The IDF later confirmed that the terrorists fired shots as well. It is suspected that the terrorists stole the security guard's handgun after stabbing him and used it to open fire.
MDA Paramedic Achiad Goharyan, who was the first to arrive at the scene, recounted: "We received a report about a man injured in a shooting attack and immediately dispatched large forces to the scene. We found a young man, about 20 years old, lying unconscious, without a pulse or breathing, with gunshot wounds on his body. We carried out medical examinations, but unfortunately, his injuries were severe, and we were forced to pronounce him dead."
Tzvi Barkai, Head of Gush Etzion Branch at United Hatzalah, and EMT Ashriel Glaser reported: “We arrived at the scene of a security incident at the Gush Etzion junction. Unfortunately, the death of a young adult, approximately 20 years old, has been confirmed due to the severe nature of the injuries sustained. Additionally, United Hatzalah Psychotrauma teams are operating at the scene due to the nature of the incident.”
MDA EMT Avraham Zeibald said, "This was a horrific shooting attack scene. We arrived with large Magen David Adom teams, and there was chaos and panic at the location. As we approached the scene, we saw a man around 20 years old lying unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing, suffering from very severe gunshot wounds to his body. We quickly performed medical examinations, but sadly, we had to pronounce him dead at the scene. Additional MDA teams provided medical treatment to people suffering from anxiety who were present at the location."
Dovi Shefler, head of the Efrat Council, called on the government to apply full sovereignty, take determined preventive measures, and restore deterrence in Judea and Samaria.
“The murderous attack today at the Gush junction, in the heart of a civilian area used by all the residents of the region, highlights how much our call for a significant force attack in Area A in Judea and Samaria, exactly as was done in Gaza and Lebanon, is necessary to eliminate Arab terror and restore full security to all residents of Israel,” he said.
Abu Obaida, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’s military wing, issued a statement on Telegram calling for “ intensified resistance” across the West Bank and Jerusalem after the attack.
He congratulated the terrorists on their “heroic operations from Hebron to Jenin, confronting Israeli forces and settler groups,” adding that they were retaliating against the “growing assault on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the escalation of crimes by the occupation forces and settlers.”
“Judea and Samaria have become a central arena on the map of threats to Israel, and we are preparing to respond accordingly,” said Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.
In the last weeks of May, the Israel Defense Forces seized $2 million that had been funneled by Iran and Turkey to terrorist cells in Judea and Samaria. The funds were confiscated from currency exchange businesses operating in the region.
Since the beginning of the year, the Israeli army has been ramping up military activity in Judea and Samaria in an effort dubbed “Operation Iron Wall,” aimed at eradicating terrorist cells in the region. While “Iron Wall” initially began as a crackdown in Jenin, it quickly expanded to include Tulkarem and Nur Shams.
Judea and Samaria have long been a security issue for Israel due to the terrorist cells that multiply there, among them the Tulkarem Brigade, which declared its independence from the Fatah-aligned Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades in 2022.
The group celebrated its independence by committing several acts of terrorism, among them the murder of Meir Tamari in a drive-by shooting in 2023, several IED attacks in 2024 and clashes with Israeli forces in and around Tulkarem and Nur Shams over the last several years.
The Tulkarem Brigade was also responsible for planting bus bombs in Bat Yam and Holon that detonated this year (fortunately, no one was injured). The group is reported to have Iranian backing, making it one more in a long list of Iranian proxies operating within or around Israel.
Before the beginning of “Iron Wall,” Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz discussed the coalition government’s view on terrorist activity originating in Judea and Samaria. In a meeting with military commanders, Katz discussed Iran’s involvement, stating, “Judea and Samaria have become a central arena on the map of threats to Israel, and we are preparing to respond accordingly.
“We see increasing efforts to promote terrorism in Judea and Samaria through smuggling of advanced weapons, funding, and guidance from both the Iranian axis and the radical Sunni Islamic axis, which is strengthening its grip on the region.
“We will continue to act forcefully against the wave of terror, cripple the perpetrators and those who send them and those who sponsor them, and ensure the security of the settlements and settlers.”
A few days later, he asserted: “We will not allow Judea and Samaria to become Gaza or South Lebanon—anyone who engages in terrorism like in Gaza will be treated like in Gaza. We will work to cut off the arms of the Iranian octopus in the refugee camps in Judea and Samaria.”
